How much does virtual staging cost?
Virtual staging prices vary a lot, from a few dollars per image for self-serve apps to well over a hundred for designer-led services. This guide explains what drives the price, how the three main options compare, and what you get for the money. The ranges below are rough figures from public price lists, not a survey, so check current pricing before you decide.
The three options
1. DIY apps and self-serve tools
You upload a photo, pick a style and the tool generates the staging. Pricing is usually a few dollars per image or a monthly subscription.
- Good for: agents comfortable reviewing and fixing images themselves, high volume, quick drafts.
- Watch for: furniture at the wrong scale, warped walls or windows, and tools that quietly change floors or views. You are the quality check, and you need to add the disclosure label yourself.
2. Virtual staging services
You send photos and a service returns finished, staged images. Prices commonly range from around $20 to $100 or more per photo, depending on turnaround, number of revisions and how much manual design work is involved.
- Good for: agents who want finished files without editing anything.
- Watch for: per-revision charges, rush fees, and whether labels and multiple style options are included or extra.
3. Physical staging
A stager brings rented furniture into the home. Costs often run from about $1,000 to $3,000 or more per listing, depending on the size of the home, the market and how many months the furniture stays.
- Good for: higher-priced homes where buyers expect a furnished walkthrough, and open houses where the in-person feel matters most.
- Watch for: monthly rental extensions if the home sits, scheduling lead time, and moving costs.
Side-by-side
| Option | Typical cost | Turnaround | Who checks quality |
|---|---|---|---|
| DIY app | A few dollars per image, or a subscription | Minutes | You |
| Staging service | Roughly $20 to $100+ per photo | 1 to 3 days is common | The service |
| Physical staging | Often $1,000 to $3,000+ per listing | Days to weeks to schedule | The stager |
What drives the price of virtual staging
- Turnaround. Same-day or rush delivery usually costs more.
- Revisions. Some providers include one or more revisions; others charge for each.
- Style options. Getting several styles per room can be included or billed per style.
- Extra edits. Removing existing furniture, declutter, day-to-dusk and renovation renders are usually priced separately, and some of them need especially careful disclosure.
- Resolution and licensing. Check that you get full-resolution files you can use across the MLS, your website and social posts.
Working out what a listing really costs
Price per photo matters less than price per listing. Most listings need four to eight staged photos: the living room, primary bedroom, dining area and one or two flexible rooms. Multiply the per-photo price by that number, then add any revision or rush fees you expect to use. Compare the total against what physical staging would cost for the same home, and against what an extra week on the market might cost your seller.
What StagedPixel costs
Our pricing is flat and listed on the home page:
- $9 per photo, or
- $59 for 8 photos (about $7.38 per photo).
Every photo includes 3 staged style options, 4K files, a "Virtually staged" label, delivery within 24 hours and one free redo. If we miss the 24-hour window, or you're still not happy after the redo, you get a full refund. Staging is AI-assisted and quality-checked for realistic scale, perspective and an unchanged room before delivery. We add furniture and decor only; we don't remove existing furniture or alter the property. There is no subscription, and your first photo is free: send one empty-room photo and judge the result before you pay anything.
Frequently asked questions
How much does virtual staging cost per photo?
It depends on the provider. Self-serve apps can cost a few dollars per image, while staging services commonly charge from around $20 to over $100 per photo. StagedPixel charges $9 per photo or $59 for 8.
Is virtual staging cheaper than physical staging?
Usually by a wide margin. Physical staging often runs $1,000 to $3,000 or more per listing, while virtually staging the key rooms of a typical listing costs a fraction of that.
How many photos should I virtually stage?
For most listings, four to eight: the living room, primary bedroom, dining area and one or two flexible rooms. Kitchens and bathrooms rarely need it.
Are there hidden fees with StagedPixel?
No. The price covers 3 style options per photo, 4K files, the "Virtually staged" label, 24-hour delivery and one free redo. There is no subscription.
Can I try before I pay?
Yes. Send one empty-room photo through the upload page and we stage it free, no card needed.
